In our series of blog posts, we’ve been telling you more about pop culture ideas in the North West of Ireland. Grab the Stetsons and Cowboy boots and head to Leitrim, as it turns into Wild West America for a special annual event.

For four special days and nights the outskirts of Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim come alive with cowboys, heroes, and everything in between. Taking place in Drumcoura City, home of a Wild West Saloon and American riding ranch, this is an award-winning festival not to be missed.

People travel from all over the world to enjoy country music and a taste of America. Line dancing, karaoke, live music, American car shows, western horse demos, amusements, jiving and a host of other attractions all set on an American style ranch.

Acts such as Nathan Carter and Mike Denver have previously appeared at this quirky festival and for those wanting to make it a weekend to remember you can enjoy glamping in luxury tents on the ranch. As for the food, enjoy burgers, hot dogs, and buckets of fries.

Cowboys and Heroes is an amazing example of thinking outside the box when it comes to encourage tourists to visit. It shines a spotlight on Leitrim and encourages visitors to check out other magical gems, such as Glenview Museum, activities on the Blueway, and so much more.
